In Phoenix and Ahwatukee Foothills, patrol officers and first responders have a good track record using Tasers to incapacitate suspects without resorting to using their handguns and lethal force. Good enough that the department is adding to the 1,500 Tasers now in service by issuing the non-lethal stun guns to all motorcycle officers. “They are tremendous tools that have reduced officer injuries and suspect injuries substantially,” said Jake Jacobson, a 29-year veteran of the Phoenix Police department and president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.
